Inspired: Henri Matisse was a French artist, born in the late 19th century. He was well known for his bold use of color and unique, flowing painting style. Although he was also a printmaker and sculptor, he’s primarily known as a painter and is thought of as one of the artists who helped to modernize the visual arts throughout the first half of the 20th century. Following surgery, Henri was too weak to paint so he picked up scissors and began cutting shapes from painted paper.
